Two tipsters on the Chiphell forum have released rumors about the performance of the next generation of AMD Radeon GPUs. According to “zhangzhonghao”, the Navi 48-based model, supposedly called the Radeon RX 8800 XT, could offer ray tracing and rasterization performance similar to the RTX 4080.
This level of performance would have been measured in Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, where the card would also feature 45% greater ray tracing performance than the 7900XTX, the current series’ flagship RDNA3 model.
Another tipster, “wjm47196”, also says that the target was always the 7900 XT, although it was not mentioned whether the target is ray tracing or rasterization performance.
According to rumors, the RX 8800 XT could require 25% less power than the RX 7900 XTX, which would mean around 270W. For comparison, the RX 7900XTX and RTX 4080 generally consume 360 and 305W, respectively.
Other information disclosed
According to reports, the Radeon RX 8800 XT would enter mass production in mid-December, indicating that the launch is likely scheduled for mid or late January, as it typically takes a month for mass-produced GPUs to be distributed in volume. for partners.
AMD would be working on three models for the Navi 4X family. The main model, the 8800 XT, could have up to 4,096 cores and up to 16GB of GDDR6 memory. This card would utilize the Navi 48 GPU, while the Navi 44 could be aimed at the 8600 series and laptop variants.
