One of the AMD Radeon RX 8000 “RDNA 4” GPUs had its information released on Geekbench, showing some of its specifications and how it will position itself against the other hardware in the line.
It’s described as the “GFX1201,” which confirms that this particular model will be using the Navi 48 SKU – the larger of the two Navi 4X dies. The card is listed with 28 compute units (CUs), and given that RDNA 3 featured a dual-CU shader engine, this could mean that it will feature 56 CUs in total.
This compute unit count for the AMD Radeon RX 8000 “RDNA 4” GPU would show itself between two models from the manufacturer – the RX 7700 XT, which was launched with 54 CUs and the RX 7800 XT, a model launched with 60 CUs.
Additionally, it is listed that the graphics card will have a clock speed set at 2.1 GHz – which seems low compared to RDNA 3 GPUs (which reach between 2.5 to 2.6 GHz with ease), but it is important to note that this may just be a sample, a test version that does not represent the final state of the model.
Finally, we also see that the AMD Radeon RX 8000 “RDNA 4” (GFX1201) GPU is listed with 16 GB of VRAM – similar to what is seen on the RX 7800 XT and RX 7900 GRE. This confirms that it will use the 256-bit bus interface, but despite the information, it was not revealed what type of memory was used – although leaks suggest that it will use GDDR6 at 18 Gbps.

AMD Radeon RX 8000 “RDNA 4” GPU Results
The performance of the AMD Radeon RX 8000 “RDNA 4” GPU did not have such positive results in the OpenCL benchmark, but as we mentioned earlier, since it is a preview version and the chip should only be undergoing testing, this probably does not represent what will be seen at its launch in 2025.
It is important to note that, if testing is already taking place with the samples, the manufacturer must be analyzing the data for the necessary adjustments – something that always occurs before the arrival of the main hardware to the market and consumers. This means that its launch – in fact – is not that far away.
AMD will likely show more details about its Radeon RX 8000 “RDNA 4” GPUs during CES 2025. However, the competition is also eyeing the event and NVIDIA’s “GeForce RTX 50” graphics cards are also expected to be present there.
