AMD enthusiasts will still have to wait a long time to see the brand’s new generation of graphics cards. This is what the latest rumors coming from reliable insider Kepler_L2 state, who reiterates not only the prediction of RDNA 5 for 2027, but highlights that the cards will only arrive after NVIDIA’s RTX 60, based on Vera Rubin.
The information was shared on the Anandtech forum. Responding to another user’s comment, Kepler_L2 says that RDNA 5 has been expected for 2027 “for a while”, and also highlights that AMD “can’t launch before NVIDIA anyway”.
In another response, the famous “leaker” explains the reasons why AMD is keen to launch its new cards after its rival. As you would expect, it has to do with the pricing strategy:
“NVIDIA’s (profit) margins are massive and they can counter almost anything with a price drop,” says Kepler_L2, in free translation. “What AMD needs is something that is in a completely different category of performance, like the 9800X3D does.”
Won’t we have new GPUs in 2026?
If the information is confirmed, we can expect the new Radeon based on RDNA 5 only at the end of 2027, as AMD will still wait for the launch of new NVIDIA cards. This results in a gap of more than 2 and a half years without new company signs.
The wait for news from NVIDIA could be even longer, however. With rumors that we will not see the refresh of SUPER cards in this generation, due to the memory crisis, it will also be a hiatus of more than 2 years, since the RTX 50 arrived in January 2025.
