AMD decided to end the B650 chipset at the beginning of the semester, telling its partners to end production of these cards in October 2025. The measure, however, appears to have been reversed, and rumors now indicate that these models will coexist with the B850 chipset for some time yet.
The company would have changed its mind because of the super inflated prices of memories. According to unofficial information, the demand for DIY components (to assemble your own PC) has fallen considerably, and companies do not expect improvements in December. Thus, AMD would be interested in maintaining an older chipset option to offer more affordable motherboard models.
“AMD has confirmed that the B650 chipset will not be discontinued and that motherboard manufacturers will continue to purchase it. The B650 and B850 series will continue to complement each other to meet customer demand,” says a post on Board Channels, a forum famous for bringing together people close to the supply chain and manufacturers.
“The latest news indicates that, given the considerable increase in memory prices and the resulting impact on demand, major board manufacturers are adjusting their purchasing and mass production plans for AMD chipsets, particularly the B650 product line. Factories may increase their purchases of AMD B650 chipsets and increase contract manufacturing capacity.”
Will we see an expansion in entry-level products in 2026?
At the moment there are no expectations of a normalization in the memory market. On the contrary, it is speculated that in 2026 we will see the peak of overvalued prices, which should further affect the demand for electronic products. Not just in the DIY segment, but any device that uses DRAM and NAND modules.

Therefore, it may be that B650 boards are not the only products that will receive a shift in production or an extension in their useful life. As prices rise rapidly, offering more cheap products is often a common “solution”.
But one has to wonder how much this will help, given that high memory values are not expected to improve before 2027 or even 2028.
