AMD officially launched its new Ryzen 8000HX processors for high performance notebooks. This is the Dragon Range Refresh line, which curiously comes a few weeks after the Fire Range debut in the same segment.
Since we are talking about a Refresh for the Dragon Range line, the Ryzen 8000HX are Zen 4 -based processors, while the Fire Range use Zen 5. There are four new skus:
- Ryzen 9 8945HX: 16 núcleos | 32 threads – clock de 2,5GHz, boost até 5,4GHz
- Ryzen 9 8940HX: 16 núcleos | 32 threads – clock de 2,45GHz, boost até 5,3GHz
- Ryzen 7 8840HX: 12 núcleos | 24 threads – clock de 2,9GHz, boost até 5,1GHz
- Ryzen 7 8745HX: 8 núcleos | 16 threads – clock de 3,6GHz, boost até 5,1GHz
All line options have a Radeon 610m as integrated charts. These are modified desktop platform processors for notebooks, so as much as they follow an IGPU, they are facing premium devices that usually come with a dedicated chart plate.
Tom’s hardware staff points out that the Ryzen 8000HX are not such an expressive refresh for the Dragon Range line. The above capture shows the table that the site organized with a comparison between the new processors and their original 7000HX series equivalents.
Ryzen 8000HX Line will be “accessible” option following 9000HX?
It is curious that AMD has decided to launch Dragon Range Refresh so shortly after the Fire Range, but processors seem to position themselves as a new more accessible option – even when we talk and a segment with higher notebook values.
The Ryzen 8000HX are just below what the company offers with the 9000HX, as shown in the Videocardz comparison above. Bringing a little significant increase over the previous version, the Ryzen 7000HX, it is possible that AMD just wants to replace the old line with younger models, with less depreciated value.
