AMD has unveiled its new Ryzen 7 8745H processor, which will initially only be available in the Chinese market. The model has 8 Zen4 cores and features Radeon 780M graphics – based on the RDNA 3 architecture and equipped with 12 Compute Units.
As rumors suggested, the new APU will not have XDNA processing included – that is, it does not contain an NPU, which is essential for the use of artificial intelligence.
The same leaks also indicated that the performance of the AMD Ryzen 7 8745H processor would be similar to that seen in the 8845HS version, but in fact it will have a reduced clock. The boost clock of the APU launched in China reaches a frequency of 4.9 GHz, 200 MHz less if we compare both models.
In terms of graphics, the processor’s performance also drops compared to the 8845HS. Even though both versions have 12 Compute Units, the new APU has a clock speed of 2.6 GHz – while the previous version reaches 2.7 GHz.

So far, only one brand has announced that it is working with the AMD Ryzen 8745H APU – Lenovo.
According to the manufacturer, the processor will be equipped in its XiaoXin 14 Pro notebook – sold at a suggested price of 5,499 RMB ($768). The model also has 24GB of memory.
AMD takes a step back
While launching its new APU only in Chinese territory, in the rest of the planet AMD takes a step back and postpones the launch of its Ryzen 9000 processors – scheduled to hit the market next week.
According to AMD’s senior vice president of computing and graphics, Jack Huynh, final testing proved that the hardware was not ready for launch and did not meet quality certifications – delaying its arrival by a week to make adjustments.
While AMD is launching the Ryzen 8745H APU and tweaking the Ryzen 9000, its competitor Intel is in a much more delicate position: the Raptor Lake CPUs have high voltage issues – causing instability and degradation of its processors. An update will only arrive in August.
