AMD launches Ryzen 5 7600X3D, its most affordable Zen 4 CPU with 3D V-Cache

AMD has launched its latest processor with 3D V-Cache, the Ryzen 5 7600X3D. Its suggested price is $300, making it the most affordable Zen 4-based CPU with this type of memory. However, its availability at launch is quite limited.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer has opted for a contract with Microcenter in the US, and the new Ryzen 5 7600X3D will be sold exclusively through the store at this time. So for now, we have no information on whether we will see the new processor officially outside of its homeland.

The Ryzen 5 7600X3D has six Zen 4 cores, with a base clock of 4.1GHz, capable of reaching up to 4.7GHz in boost, with a TDP of 65W. The cache, which is the big differentiator of the 3D version of the product, reaches 96MB L3, triple the capacity available in the standard Ryzen 5 7600X. Completing the specs, we have two DDR5 channels with support for up to 128GB and 24 useful lanes for PCIe 5.0.

Since the new processor uses socket AM5 and chipsets from A620 to X670E, Microcenter will also sell the product in a bundle option. It can be purchased in stores accompanied by 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory (two modules) and an ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus WiFi board, for a total value of US$ 450.

Will the Ryzen 5 7600X3D be worth it?

The impact of 3D V-Cache promises to bring improvements especially in gaming, so only future tests will determine the advantage of the 7600X3D over the standard Ryzen 5 7600X.

The folks at Tom’s Hardware point out that the model with traditional CPU cache can be found for US$229 (R$1,278), a good deal less than the new version. Here in Brazil it appears for a little less than R$1,500. In other words, the Ryzen 5 7600X3D will have to show a significant performance gain to justify its value.

Meanwhile, AMD appears to be preparing a more affordable variant with 3D V-Cache, also based on Zen 4. This is the alleged Ryzen 5 5500X3D.
