A supposed engineering sample for a future AMD Krackan Point processor has appeared in benchmark results on Geekbench. The listing was shared by Everest (@Olrak29_), known for his hardware leaks.
You can see some processor details in the post, and a few more in the benchmark results itself. To begin with, the supposed Krackan Point APU appears with 6 cores and 12 threads, divided into 3 + 3. So, there are probably 3 Zen 5 cores and 3 Zen 5c cores.
The clock in the leak appears as 2GHz, but it is important to remember that engineering samples for processors rarely appear with their final clocks. In these configurations, this Krackan Point’s NPU scores 2,019 in single precision, 1,276 in half precision and 3,773 in quantized.
Test details show that the benchmark ran on an unspecified ASUS notebook, with Windows 11 Pro as the operating system. Accompanying it, we have 8GB of RAM memory.
The folks at TechSpot highlight speculation by trying to guess what the commercial name would be for this Krackan Point chip under development. It could be a Ryzen AI 5 340 based on the specifications, using NPU XDNA 2 and a Radeon 840M for integrated graphics, with RDNA 3.5 architecture.

AMD expected to launch Krackan Point in early 2025
There are many AMD products appearing in rumors and leaks with an official announcement expected in early 2025. The Krackan Point series of processors is among them.
More about AMD processors:
When we talk about the beginning of the year for the arrival of technology products, we automatically think of CES. So, if in fact AMD intends to announce all these products at the event, it will have a well-packed presentation that should include new dedicated GPUs, a refresh for entry-level processors and the most affordable version of its Ryzen AI 300 line.
Time will tell which rumors are actually confirmed, but AMD’s bet on a wide variety of products seems to have been successful for the company.
