An AMD representative confirmed that we will not see the RDNA 4 architecture appearing on notebooks or mini PCs anytime soon. In an interview with Notebookcheck, Ben Conrad emphasized the company’s current portfolio of the company, stating that Strix Point and Strix Halo already serve the market with wide options.
Strix Point -based processors are the well -known Ryzen Ai 300 line, with the new Strix version Halo having been presented at CES 2025, with Ryzen Ai Max’s trade name. For now, for AMD these lines already meet any need for consumers looking for notebooks.
“Compared to our competitors, the Ryzen AI 300 series (including AI Max) is a Swiss knife,” said Conrad, one of Mobile executives at AMD. “It has integrated GPU, so it supports light and portable gambling. If you value the ability to replace or add memory to your system, it supports DDR5 expansion that competition does not have. Finally, in the game system, it also offers Copilot+”.
Speaking specifically from RDNA 4, the executive said AMD’s current strategy is to focus on the desktop market. However, he did not rule out that in the future we can see the architecture on portable devices. “Certainly, RDNA 4 and future graphic technologies will reach mobile, whether in Apus, or future products,” Conrad said.
Notebooks without RDNA 4 have opted for Blackwell
While integrated graphics serve well to the input and even intermediary of notebooks, buyers looking for premium products often choose devices with dedicated GPU. And that’s why, in the absence of RDNA 4 components, we are watching many notebooks opting for the Blackwell -based RTX 50 series.
This obviously includes models with Strix Point processors. Even Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, equipped with a competent Radeon 890m, appears accompanied by nvidia graphs in the highest cost segments.
