A AMD recently revealed a few more details about the CPUS Ryzen X3D with Zen 5 Architecture -Including 12 -core 9900x3D -, as well as talking about the correction of problems in these CPUS in relation to Windows 10 VBS.
During CES 2025, some specifications had already been dealt with, when the company revealed 16-core Ryzen 9 9950x3D flag car, but now we have a clearer view of performance and comparisons with 8-core 9800x3D are possible.
Did AMD really corrected CPUS problems on Windows 10 VBS?
AMD has launched a new chipset driver, version 7.02.13.148, bringing a series of improvements, according to the company’s update. One is the PPKG functionality, which allows you to change processor without having to reinstall the operating system – facilitates the process for those who want to upgrade without (a lot) headache. Another novelty is an AMD application compatibility database driver that optimizes game performance.
Update also features an enhanced optimizer for 3D V-Cache. According to AMD:
“Optimizes Ryzen 9 X3D processors for game tasks and no games, dynamically changing the ‘favored’ processor centers.”
In practice, this means that Windows can now schedule game tasks directly to CCD (Core Compute Die) with vertical 3D cache. This type of adjustment has existed since 5800x3D, but now we have an update that corrects a problem with Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) on Windows 10. AMD has not entered many details, but ensured that the feature now works correctly with VBS activated. But is it?
Neowin’s Sayan Sen has checked this information and found reports that Windows 10 may display an error in the L3 cache report when VBS is activated – a problem that has rolled since 2023.
For those who expected a miracle patch to improve VBS performance, there is no good news. Even in the latest versions of Windows, the security feature still causes performance drops. In Windows 10 it is still disabled by default.
