A AMD He officially confirmed that an APU based on Zen 3+ architecture with Navi charts, known as “Rembrandt”, was tested on the AM5 socket. The revelation came after the discovery of technical records on the company’s official portal, bringing up a project that was never launched to the public.
This tested apu, classified as “Functional Test Vehicle”, is part of the 19h family, associated with 6 nm Rembrandt processors. Although it has never been commercially available, the model stresses that AMD, at some point, considered it to bring the Zen 3+ architecture and RDNA 2 graphs to the new generation of mother plates, before migrating to the Phoenix series with Zen 4.

Forgotten apu resurfaces among enthusiasts
In recent days, hardware enthusiasts have scoured the Technical Information Portal AMD in search of information about the next generations of processors. Amid investigations into future models, such as the powerful Ryzen ThreadRipper Pro 9995wx with 96 centers, a curious discovery caught the attention: the record of APU Zen 3+ Rembrandt as a functional prototype.
According to information gathered by the Videocardz website, the identifier “19h Models 40h – 4fh” confirms that APU belongs to the Rembrandt generation. The chip in question has 6 nm lithography and integrates NAVI graphics of the RDNA 2 architecture, being an intermediate proposal between the 5000g series (Zen 3 + Vega) and the latest 8000g (Zen 4 + RDNA 3).
Heel directly from the 5000g series to 8000g
The discovery helps to fill a chronological gap in the evolution of AMD processors with integrated GPU:
AMD line G in desktops:
- Ryzen 2000G (2018): Zen + Vega (GCN)
- Ryzen 3000G (2019): Zen+ + Vega (GCN)
- Ryzen 4000G (2020): Zen 2 + Vega (GCN)
- Ryzen 5000G (2021): Zen 3 + Vega (GCN)
- Ryzen 6000g (prototype): Zen 3+ + RDNA 2
- Ryzen 8000G (2024): Zen 4 + RDNA 3
- Ryzen 9000g (planned for 2025): Zen 5 + Rdna 3.5
With the 5000G series straight for 8000g in the market, many speculated if the 6000g with Zen 3+ would have been canceled. Current confirmation shows that it was indeed developed and tested, although never marketed.

Future Launch of the 9000G series is awaited
With eyes turned to the future, AMD prepares to announce the series Ryzen 9000GCodiname “Gorgon Point”, with Zen 5 nuclei and RDNA 3.5 graphics. This new line should succeed the Phoenix chips (Zen 4 + RDNA 3), released in early 2024. More information on new processors is expected to be released during Computex 2025.
Prototypes exist and may be in circulation
Although APU Rembrandt for AM5 has never reached the shelves, the existence of an official “test Vehicle” opens space for the possibility that some prototype units are in circulation between partners or collectors. According to AMD itself, if someone finds a chip with these specifications, you can be sure that it is a legitimate product.

Why has AMD jumped the 6000g series in the desktop?
Experts suggest that the decision not to launch 6000g with Zen 3+ and RDNA 2 graphs may have been strategic. With the quick advance of Zen 4 architecture and the arrival of AM5 socket, the company chose to focus features in the development of the Phoenix series, bringing more significant improvements in performance and energy efficiency.
