AMD confirms Ryzen 5 9600x3d in SI Driver Update to Radeon Ai Pro R9700

The Ryzen 5 9600x3D is official and should be released eventually. This is what confirms an update from SI Driver for Radeon Ai Pro R9700, available on the AMD website itself. Among the compatible products, the company lists the new 3D V-Cache processor, which has not had a formal announcement yet.

This processor appears in rumors since September last year, and AMD was expected to offer a more accessible Ryzen 5 level option as a 3D V-Cache feature. Thus, the Ryzen 5 9600x3D is the fourth model of the current generation with X3D, being the option of input between them.

Obviously, this means that the new X3D CPU will bring less advanced specifications than other items in the series, which may include a small reduction in the cache as well. Update in the AMD driver does not offer information in this regard, but we already have rumors and leaks talking about what to expect for the processor.

We can consider that one of the main brands of AMD’s popular X3D processors is its great cache capacity. The Ryzen 9 9950x3d at the top of the line offers 145MB, for example. The Ryzen 7 9800x3D, the most popular model in the series, already has much less cache, coming with 104.5MB.

The Ryzen 5 9600x3D, in turn, should have two nuclei less than 9800x3D, coming with a total of 6. As a result, its L2 cache should be slightly reduced to a total of 102.5MB in all layers.

The impact of cache reduction should not be as expressive as the reduction in nuclei counting to run games. Still, there are good expectations for the performance of another X3D model in games. We will know better after its launch, in third party tests.

Finally, it is also noteworthy that, among the compatible CPUs listed by the new driver, appears the Ryzen 5 9600. This processor was already official and even has a page on the AMD website, but does not appear in stores.
