During his presentation at CES 2025, AMD officially announced the Radeon RX 9070 GPU lineupwhich uses the RDNA 4 architecture and will hit stores in the first quarter of 2025. However, the company did not disclose many technical details about the products, although it confirmed that they will be offered by many manufacturers.
The company revealed that it is already working with the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070 models, which will be produced by names such as Acer, ASUS, Sapphire, XFX, ASRrock, Gigabyte and PowerColor, among others. They should mark the debut of the FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4) upscale technology, which already has a confirmed presence in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
According to AMD, its new products were created from scratch to add more artificial intelligence and performance features in this field. Furthermore, the RDNA 4 architecture promises better Ray Tracing performance, in addition to being able to work more efficiently with media with different encodings.
Radeon RX 9070 promises technological leap
AMD has revealed that the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon 9070 models will feature its second generation of AI accelerators, the third generation of its Ray Tracing accelerator and the second generation of the Radiance display engine. The architecture of the new GPUs will also be important for FSR 4, which will work exclusively with it.
The new generation of upscale system was created to work specifically with RDNA 4, using dedicated hardware accelerators. With this, the company starts to follow a path similar to NVIDIA’s DLSS, leaving aside the exclusively software-based solution of previous versions of FidelityFX Super Resolution.
So far, AMD has not gone into detail about the performance of its new GPUs, nor has it compared its new upscale technology to its competitors. However, she suggested that the new models could have similar performance to NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4070Ti and RTX 4070 Super cards.
To complete the announcements, the company confirmed that it will add artificial intelligence capabilities to the Adrenalin software. From them, users will be able to summarize information from documents present on their PCs, in addition to using a chatbot that helps adjust the graphics settings of different games.
