AMD confirms FSR Redstone launch on December 10th with biggest leap in quality thanks to AI

Jack Huyhn, graphics and computing manager for AMD, released a teaser that finally reveals the official release date for FSR Redstone: December 10, 2025. This will be the biggest update FSR has ever had, promising very noticeable advances in image quality and performance of compatible GPUs.

FSR Redstone made its debut, in part, with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The game arrived on November 14th with ML Ray Regeneration, one of the pillars of the Redstone update. The full version of the tool, however, has four main features – driven by AI, as expected.

Ray Regeneration, which already appears in Black Ops 7, underwent machine learning training to predict and filter noise in game images in real time.

On December 10th we will have the arrival of other technologies:

• Neural Radiance Caching: uses a machine learning model to “learn” how lights behave in scenes and predict their behavior.
• ML Super Resolution: performs the well-known upscale already popular in FSR, but using AI to deliver better results in real time
• ML Frame Generation: promises to insert “correct frames” using machine learning between rendered frames to increase game fps

FSR Redstone may have restricted use

AMD said in the introduction of FSR Redstone that this new version of FSR would only be compatible with its latest dedicated graphics cards – namely the Radeon RX 9000 series, based on RDNA 4.

Since then, we have had rumors that the technology may also end up being compatible with NVIDIA and Intel GPUs, slightly expanding the possibilities of its use. However, this information has not yet been officially confirmed by AMD.
