Rumors are taking shape and the AMD Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F CPUs are close to being launched on the market. Both are models produced for desktop and are produced with the 4 nm process in the Zen 4 “Hawk Point” architecture (also called “Phoenix 2”) and using the AM5 socket.

It is important to mention that they will follow the “F” model pattern, with their iGPUs disabled for use. Even though it does not have iGPU support, the Ryzen 7 8700F processor will still support NPU with 16 TOPS of performance for artificial intelligence.

According to the leaker “@momomo_us“, the AMD Ryzen 7 8700F CPU will come with 8 cores and 16 threads, requiring 65W of TDP – similar to what is seen in the 8700G, but with a reduced clock speed. While the original reaches 5.1 GHz, the “F” model can reach up to 5 GHz.

The AMD Ryzen 5 8400F has 6 cores, two of which are based on “Zen 4” and the rest on “Zen 4c”. This processor can reach a clock speed of up to 4.7 GHz in “Boost” for the two Zen 4 cores, while the Zen 4c cores operate at a reduced clock speed. While the 8700F is equipped with an NPU, this CPU does not.

It should be noted that, although various information and even slides confirm the existence of the processors, AMD itself has not commented on the chips and the official announcement remains to make them official. Furthermore, there is no information or rumors about their price, but they should be cheaper than the 8700G and 8500G – respectively compared.

AMD guarantees improvements to the Ryzen 7 8700F

In terms of performance, AMD claims that the Ryzen 7 8700F processor will bring a gain of 10% to 24% greater than what is seen in the Intel Core i5-14400F models – according to the tests they carried out internally in six games and six productivity tests.

The 8400G model is 1% to 14% higher than the Intel Core i5-13400F CPU, according to the information collected. Both processors will include the “Wraith Stealth” cooling solution, produced for 65W TDP processors.

AMD will open Computex 2024, with the presence of the company’s CEO: Dr. Lisa Su. It’s possible that the CPUs will be revealed at the event, but I’d say the real focus will be on the new Zen 5 architecture and the processor models that will use it this year 2024.
