AMD has just announced its new professional use GPUs for racing IA processing. The Instinct Mi350X and Mi355X bring a new CDNA 4 architecture and promise to jump up to 4 times in AI inference to some scenarios compared to the previous generation of products.
The new generation AMD Instinct has 185 billion transistors and uses 288GB of 12 -layer HBM3E memory. GPUs offer FP4 and FP6 support and have their nuclei manufactured in the 3NM process, introduced to CDNA 4 instinct.
The characteristics are valid for both the MI350X and the MI355X. The difference is in the use of energy. Instinct Mi350X models are facing air cooling servers, and pull less energy. Instinct Mi355X, in turn, have been made for liquid cooling systems and will use as much energy as they can to deliver more performance.
As might be expected, AMD has released some performance comparisons for the new generation of its professional GPUs. According to the company, the MI350X and the MI355X can reach more than 4 times the performance of the previous generation, the MI300X, in Ai Agent and Chatbots.
The comparison with some popular AI models is also quite positive for the new plates. The accelerators show performance three times larger (or more) in DeepSeek R1, Llama 3.3 and Llama 4:
Some comparatives are made with competition as well, with Nvidia B200 and GB200 models. The results are very close, although the MI350X and Mi355X get some occasional advantage. It is probably no coincidence that AMD has ensured the revelation of its new GPUs before the official arrival of NVIDIA’s B300 models.
Mi350X and Mi355X will not have versions Mi350A and Mi355A
According to Tom’s Hardware, AMD has no plans to make an apu style version of its new AI accelerators. That is, Instinct Mi350X and MI355X should not have a variant with integrated CPU nuclei, as with the MI300A, alternative version of the MI300X.

AMD’s decision is interesting, especially considering that, currently, the world’s most powerful supercomputer uses MI300A accelerators. The famous El Capitan acts as a positive promotion of models, but the company decided to bet only on GPUS in this generation.
