AMD announces Epyc Embedded 8004, series of integrated Zen 4 CPUs

AMD has expanded its line of professional integrated processors with the new Epyc Embedded 8004 series. These are CPUs also based on the Zen 4 architecture, just like the 9004 series, but bringing more affordable SKUs for industrial use.

According to VideoCardz, the new Epyc Embedded 8004 arrive with options from 12 to 64 cores – while the 9004 reach 96. Not only that, but we are also talking about Zen 4c cores, equipped with six memory controls, instead of twelve. Thus, they support up to 1,152TB of DDR5 memory, and can operate between 70W and 225W.

The new line is “led” by the AMD Epyc Embedded 8534P, which has a base clock of 2.3GHz and boost up to 3.1GHz. As mentioned, there are 64 cores, with 128 threads. The entry-level model in the series, with 12 cores and 24 threads, is the Epyc Embedded 8C24P, with a base clock of 2.45GHz and boost up to 3GHz.

AMD promotes its Embedded line for companies looking for network connectivity and longevity for their processors. The new 8004 series is intermediate, just below the 9004, but still above the Epyc 4004 family, revealed in May this year.

Epyc line became AMD’s flagship

The diversity of processors and GPUs for professional use should continue to increase in AMD’s portfolio. This is because the company’s CEO, Lisa Su, has already openly admitted that the company’s focus is now on data centers and servers.

“We really are a company where the data center comes first,” declared the executive in September, while discussing the segment’s gains for AMD.

Therefore, the company’s next event will be especially important, because we will have the debut of the new generation of Epyc processors, known as Turin. And they arrive accompanied by the new Instinct GPUs and, possibly, the Ryzen AI 300 Pro line. We will find out more at the presentation, on October 10th.
