AMD AM6 can arrive in 2028 with 2,100 pins and compatible with AM5 coolers

New rumors about AMD’s next socket point out that the company will try to maintain some backwardness when AM6 arrives, even with a considerable increase in the number of pins. The information comes from Bits and Chips website, citing their own sources, so it’s good to maintain a dose of skepticism.

“According to our sources, Socket AMD AM6 will be very similar to Socket AM5,” says the site, in free translation. “To maintain its own tradition, AMD will allow us to use the coolers that we are now wearing at Socket AM5 again.”

That is, if the information is correct, anyone who chooses to upgrade their mother card to the new generation AM6 will not need to change the cooler if you don’t want to.

The information is especially interesting because the sources of the site also mention a 22% increase in the counting of pins in the next generation: “The new socket AM6 will have about 2,100 pins and will start selling in 2028, when the Uarch Zen 7 will be ready.”
