Amazon Prime Video continues to be one of the most praised services by the public in several aspects, whether for its fairer price or even its exclusive content that has been successful, such as The Boys, Fallout, Invincible and Rings of Power.
However, the service’s interface was still a weak point, and now everything seems to be improving. It turns out that the company announced a redesign and improvement to the interface, which had already been criticized for being confusing, especially in relation to the other services within Prime. Amazon Prime Video with more intuitive navigation
The main change in this new interface is that it takes the navigation bar that was on the left side and puts it right at the top. It is also more simplified. First, you can see the general categories, which are: Home, Movies, TV Shows, Sports and Live TV.
Right next to it, the bar continues to divide the content from Prime and other subscriptions within it, such as Max, Paramount+, Crunchyroll and others. This change was crucial, as it was a bit difficult to understand which content on the main page was included in the Prime subscription and which others required additional subscriptions. In addition, for those who do not have other subscriptions, it is now possible to see only options within Prime, without distractions.
Finally, there is a separate section to add new subscriptions, directly from the bar, among more than 100 options available on Amazon.
Highlight content and recommendationss customized
The “featured rotator,” which is the part where the large, featured content banners are located just below the bar, also adapts to it. This means that it shows the featured content depending on which tab is selected in the bar. In other words, if you select the Prime tab, it will show the featured content that is available in that subscription.
This isn’t exactly news, as it’s similar to what happens with other rival services, but it’s still a welcome change. Better late than never, right? Especially since many people already found Prime Video’s interface confusing.
Additionally, Amazon has also added AI-generated personalized recommendations (“Made for You”) when browsing the Movies and TV Shows sections. Using the company’s Bedrock AI model, the machine learning recommendations will provide content suggestions based on users’ viewing history and preferences.
Improvements to the browsing experience
Synopses for shows and movies will also be enhanced with the help of AI, making navigation through descriptions faster and more efficient, preventing users from having to scroll to get more information about a particular piece of content.
In addition to these improvements, the new Prime Video user interface includes new animations, faster page transitions and zoom effects, providing a more “fluid” experience. On living room devices, video content will automatically play in the featured rotator as users browse, similar to what is already seen on Netflix and other competitors. In the Live TV tab, recommended stations will also automatically play until the user chooses something to watch.
These changes have already started to be released today (23), but gradually, so it may still take a few days to arrive here.
