ADATA has launched its new M.2 NVMe Gen5 SSD “Legend 970 PRO”, which stands out for bringing a transfer rate that reaches speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s read and for having a heatsink with an active fan.
The new product line was officially presented at Computex 2024 and is being manufactured to bring a successor to the “Legend 970“, launched in July 2023.
ADATA’s Legend 970 PRO SSD can reach a storage capacity of up to 4TB, with up to 14,000 MB/s read and 11,000 MB/s write. In comparison, the “non-PRO” model brought 10,000 MB/s both read and write.
The new M.2 NVMe also features 1.8 million 4K random read IOPS and 1.3 million 4K random write IOPS. The previous version of the SSD capped at 1.4 million IOPS for both read and write.

ADATA Legend 970 PRO SSD Cooling
According to information presented by ADATA, the Legend 970 PRO SSD is the only model on the market with an active micro-fan directly in the M.2 slot. With this solution, it is revealed that the temperature of the Gen5 SSD has a reduction of up to 20%.
The manufacturer points out that this is possible thanks to space savings, allowing improvements in the thermal aspect of the hardware.
The Legend 970 PRO uses a dual-layer aluminum heatsink, crafted with essential air ducts to separate hot and cold air while an integrated micro-fan accelerates heat dissipation. This revolutionary active architecture provides a compact form factor that supports installation in tight spaces and allows the Legend 970 PRO to be used in systems where bulky, large heatsinks cannot. Additionally, the Legend 970 PRO is the only cooled SSD on the market that uses the power of the M.2 slot fan, eliminating the clutter and hassle of an additional power cable.
The ADATA Legendo 970 PRO SSD is a model that uses the new format with 232 layers of 3D NAND flash, which should attract audiences looking for the most advanced on the market. However, the manufacturer has not yet revealed what its suggested retail price will be – despite guaranteeing the product for five years, like the others it produces.
