Steam Machine is listed in store for the first time, but the price does not seem official

Since Valve’s announcement of its new hardware products for 2026, the price of the Steam Machine has been the biggest expectation of those interested. Now the compact PC has finally had its first listing in an official store, with a price that seems a bit steep. The good news is that this price doesn’t seem finalized.

Incredible as it may seem, the first listing for the Steam Machine comes from a store in the Czech Republic, Smarty.cz. Two variants were registered on the website, one with 512GB of capacity for 19,826 Czech crowns, and the other with 2TB, for 22,305 crowns. Moving to dollars, we have US$950 and US$1,070, respectively.

These are already very high values, and they do not even include VAT, a tax applied to consumer products in Europe. But there is a good chance that the numbers are just “placeholders”, registered there because the system requires some value for the product page. In most cases of first listings in stores we have a price that is later changed to the official value.

Another important piece of information that VideoCardz highlights is that Valve devices are sold more expensively in the country. The Steam Deck, for example, can be found for prices on average 37% higher than what Valve charges in its store.

Unfortunately for Valve and those interested in its new Steam Machine, the company prepared to launch the product at the very beginning of the year, which will be marked by the crisis of absurdly inflated memory prices.

High demand for DRAM and NAND for use in AI processing is causing a production shortage for domestic components, driving up product prices.

This has already resulted in more expensive devices, and the Steam Machine is unlikely to escape the problem. Valve has already warned that it does not intend to treat the machines as consoles and will not subsidize their prices, but in the end the debut could be higher than planned.

In any case, we must wait for official values ​​before drawing conclusions. The listing in stores at least serves to indicate that we are close to a launch of small PCs. It is worth mentioning that Steam Machines also appear in the database of another store in Czechia, Alza.
