Not a day has passed into the new year and the price of the RTX 5090 has already reached a record high for the year. The suggested price of US$1,999 (R$10,871.36), today, can only be found on the official NVIDIA store for the Founders Edition.
Some may get lucky and get more cards from NVIDIA through Verified Priority Access. And this may be the only way to buy the Blackwell model, the flagship of the line, at the suggested price.
The survey was carried out by Videocardz, and shows how the price of RTX 5090 GPUs is reaching double that suggested by NVIDIA. And, even considering the recent news that prices would increase, this is a very significant increase.

Consulting the largest retailers listed by NVIDIA, Videocardz found that prices now start at US$3,059 (R$16,636.07). However, the majority have already surpassed the US$3,500 mark (R$19,034.40). These are the only cards currently in stock and are sold directly by retailers.
The cheapest card on Amazon is exclusive to Prime members, costing US$2,999 (R$16,309.76) for the TUF model.
Rumors suggested that NVIDIA would increase the price of the RTX 5090 to US$5,000 (R$27,192.00), but this is considered unlikely (for now). At the moment, The information is that NVIDIA has no plans to officially increase the suggested price.
This is rare and would likely be publicized or leaked by board partners. The expectation is that the green team will ignore the increase in prices of its high-end models and withdraw the Founders Edition from circulation, at least until the market stabilizes.
The certainty now is that, as the one-year anniversary of the launch of the RTX 5090 approaches, there is no reason to believe that the card will be widely available at the suggested price. Something that seemed possible a few months ago clearly isn’t anymore.
Transfer to Brazil
Even though the cheapest RTX 5090 found at Kabum is R$ 19,999.99 (AORUS MASTER ICE), it is safe to say that the price transfer has not yet been done. Which is worrying. The RTX 5090 model cards were already expensive and, as soon as the transfer happens, and it will happen, prices should see a huge spike.
For the record, the most expensive RTX 5090 at Kabum costs R$ 30,990.00 (MSI Gaming Trio OC 1). And, in this case, at least some pass-through of the increase has already occurred. Through Amazon, it was possible to find a ROG Astral for R$40,862.09. And there is only one plate available in stock at the time of writing this news.
In fact, one of the problems that should haunt the Brazilian market, in addition to rising prices, is scarcity.
