NVIDIA was apparently not prepared to release the sale of its H200 cards to China. A new report from Reuters points out that there is an explosion of demand in technology companies in the country, while the owner of GeForce does not have enough stock to meet orders. Therefore, the largest AI company in the world would have run to TSMC for more products.
According to reports on the website, NVIDIA would have received total orders for 2 million H200 chips for the year 2026. At the moment, the company would have a stock of only 700,000 units of the card, which is not even half of what is needed.
The exact number of new H200 units that NVIDIA has ordered from TSMC is not known, but concerns are already being raised regarding the supply of the global AI market, which could feel the impact of the world’s largest company accelerating its orders from the leading chipmaker.
Reuters also reports that the AI giant intends to charge around US$27,000 for each H200 sold to China.
NVIDIA guarantees that there will be no shortage of H200 in the United States
Contacted to comment on the case, NVIDIA neither confirmed nor denied the high demand for products coming from China. Instead, the company preferred to promise that it will not have supply problems for the US.
“Licensed sales of the H200 to authorized customers in China will have no impact on our ability to serve our customers in the United States,” the company stated. “China is a highly competitive market with growing local chip suppliers. Blocking all U.S. exports sabotaged our national and economic security and only benefited foreign competitors.”
China may still end up blocking the sale of products
While the US has authorized the export of H200 cards and NVIDIA is already ordering more products, there is still concern that China will block the cards from entering the country.

The government is still deliberating on the matter because, while it is already possible to find local solutions close to H20, this is not the case for H200. As much as China seeks autonomy, it will not do so by leaving its technology companies far behind global competitors.
