Intel’s next data center accelerator platform, Jaguar Shores, may end up using HBM4E. The information comes from X user Bionic_Squash, who specializes in Intel leaks.
Additionally, the statement that Jaguar Shores will utilize HBM4E suggests that Intel may be targeting a later launch, possibly closer to mid-2027.
Obviously, this is an analysis based on the forecast of when HBM4E technology will be available on a large scale. And this would represent a change from what was reported during the Intel AI Summit Seoul in July 2025. At the time, Jaguar Shores was associated with SK hynix’s HBM4 technology, with estimates for 2026.

Constant changes

Intel’s data center AI accelerator timeline has been shaky to say the least. HBM4E is expected to be a further step in the HBM4 generation, with higher performance targets and room for greater customization at the base chip level.
Memory industry reports have linked HBM4E to cutting-edge accelerator roadmaps, including NVIDIA Rubin Ultra-era systems and the next generation AMD Instinct series. SK hynix also mentioned “customized HBM4E” aimed at customer needs, citing NVIDIA, Broadcom and AMD among them.
The company did not mention Intel. And this is in line with the fact that HBM4E is targeted at high-end AI GPUs and custom AI ASIC programs.
Decisive moment
For Intel, the moment is crucial, as Jaguar Shores is the successor to Falcon Shores, which was discontinued as a commercial product, and before it, the Rialto Bridge. The company stated that Falcon Shores will remain as an internal test chipwhile the company takes a rack-scale approach with Jaguar Shores.
If the launch of Jaguar Shores is indeed delayed until late 2027, the blue team risks arriving after customers have already standardized competing platforms for another implementation cycle. And that’s even considering that the platform delivers significant performance.
