Among the many Chinese companies seeking solutions for greater technological independence in the country, Lisuan has attracted attention with its future 7G100 series of GPUs. Now, the 7G106 model, aimed at home use, has appeared running a 3DMark test on an ARM-based Windows system.

Unfortunately we don’t have the test results, but a video on the Chinese social network Bilibili shows the Steel Nomad test running on a Windows 11 system on ARM. A DirectX 12 compatibility feature is being used for the benchmark to work, but Lisuan shows that it has a driver for its 7G106 in the architecture.

The test system would be equipped with a CP8180 CPU, introduced in 2024 with 12 ARM cores, 8 of which are focused on performance and 4 focused on efficiency. The boost clock goes up to 3.2GHz and the lithography was done using a 6nm process.

Dedicated support for ARM can be a differentiator for Lisuan

Although we cannot see the test results, the video shows that the benchmark appears to run without any major difficulties. Greater attention to ARM, especially at a time when Microsoft is starting to promote Windows on the platform, could prove to be an interesting differentiator for Lisuan.

Currently, as VideoCardz points out, AMD, NVIDIA and Intel do not offer dedicated ARM drivers for their dedicated graphics cards. They can even be used to render games on systems with this architecture, but using the basic Windows driver, a far cry from what can be offered in terms of performance with dedicated game drivers.

Lisuan’s tests may only be showing an internal driver, or the company is preparing to be the first with a dedicated GPU better prepared to run games on ARM. At the moment, users can only use integrated graphics, as in Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X processors.

If the Chinese brand doesn’t accelerate the project, however, it could end up arriving after NVIDIA’s N1X chip, which could bring with it dedicated drivers for Blackwell GPUs on ARM CPUs, as it brings together these two architectures in one SoC.
