As if investing in a good PC wasn’t already expensive enough at the current time, the situation is likely to get even more complicated in 2026. According to the ZDNet Korea website, the segment is expected to register overall increases of at least 20% over the next few monthsas the market adapts to new supply line realities.
One of the main “villains” in this sense will be DRAM memories, whose prices have already been increasing, following the demand for the construction of new data centers. However, the source consulted by the vehicle states that many manufacturers must pass on cost increases in elements such as CPUs and SSDs to the consumer.

What should cause a real “shock” of prices in the PC segment, especially those that are sold in a more closed way, is the fact that Many companies still work with old stock. Once they run out, it will be inevitable that there will be an adjustment in the amounts charged to consumers.
PC market is very susceptible to price increases
“PC manufacturers react very sensitively, even if the production cost increases by only 1 cent. Even if they try to reduce it by a few cents, if the production cost increases by tens of dollars at once, it will naturally result in losses,” the ZDNet Korea source explained.
She also stated that, when renewing their product stocks, PC manufacturers will have to pay more for CPUs, batteries, memories and SSDs, among other components. “We have no choice but to increase the price of new products by at least 20% over the next few years and quickly discontinue existing products”.

Given the scope of the situation, it should not only affect computers. Consoles, smartphones and any other type of electronics that depend on the same types of components must also undergo readjustments — this at a time when many consumers are having difficulty dealing with increasingly higher costs of living.
Among the companies that already anticipate an imminent readjustment is AMD, which warned its partners about a 10% increase in its GPUs. Manufacturers such as Samsung and SK Hynix claim that, even with prices rising, there is a real risk that the supply of DRAM for consumers will become scarce, given the growing “appetite” of the artificial intelligence segment.
