Price of NAND memories for companies rose up to 60% in November

The immense demand for memories of all types, driven by investments in AI, continued to make components for different uses more expensive in November. This time, TrendForce reports that contract prices for NAND Flash across all product categories have risen between 20% and 60% in the past month.

The increase was driven by strong demand for enterprise SSDs. The demand is so great that the focus on meeting these orders also reached domestic products, which had their production reduced and also an increase in price as a result.

“A detailed analysis of pricing trends for November reveals that 1Tb TLC had the most significant shortage due to persistent demand for enterprise SSDs, causing a sharp increase in average prices,” explains TrendForce.

“The 512Gb TLC, impacted by the accelerated shutdown of legacy nodes and sustained market demand, saw the largest price increase among all TLC products, increasing more than 65% month-over-month.”

Obviously, these price increases for ordering NAND Flash must be reflected in the final products that use the modules for storage. This includes not only SSDs for servers, but also home drives and flash drives.

NAND and other memories will continue to get more expensive

November follows a trend that we have been seeing since the beginning of the year and that should continue in the following months. In its own post reporting the latest increases for NAND memories, TrendForce already leaves its forecast for December:

“TrendForce reports that suppliers currently hold significant pricing power, and wafer-level supply shortages are not expected to improve soon. Consequently, contract prices are projected to continue increasing in December.”
