An XOC BIOS aimed at ASUS GeForce RTX 5090 emerged on international forums over the weekend, drawing attention for releasing a power limit up to 2000W on personalized plates.
The firmware image, shared by users specialized in overclocking, shows permissions that surpass any configuration found in commercial models, increasing voltage, energy limit and thermal margin.
The BIOS would have initially been tested on standard ASUS RTX 5090 cards, but signs indicate that it was not developed for the model Matrixwhich continues with its own firmware and different approaches to thermal management.

What the BIOS changes in relation to the original firmware
The main change involves the energy ceiling, which rises to 2000Wallowing for higher frequencies in specific scenarios.
The value exceeds any limit officially made available by NVIDIA or manufacturers, who work with power limits well below that.
Additionally, users reported that the BIOS adjusts parameters such as:
- amplitude do PWR Limitoffering new voltage margins
- permissions for broader manual control of clocks
- new thermal windows for extreme testing
First comparisons indicate that this firmware appears to be based on previous XOC BIOS architectures used on ROG line cards.

Initial tests suggest partial compatibility
The published image shows that the BIOS is being recognized as compatible with the ASUS RTX 5090 ROG Strixbut there is no confirmation of full support in the model Matrixdesigned for high frequency with a focus on liquid cooling.
The test disclosed in the screenshot displays the firmware identified as “V5090_XOC_2000W”running with an updated driver and recognized as a working version by NVFlash. The community has raised doubts about stability, but so far there have been no reports of critical failures.
This type of BIOS is not aimed at the common public. These are experimental images, used in controlled overclocking sessions. Any user attempting to reproduce this at home needs to understand the level of risk involved
Risks highlighted by users
Aggressively increasing voltage and power can cause permanent damage, especially to VRMs, power phases, and the power connector itself.
Experienced users point out that, even in controlled sessions, limits of 2000W are too extreme for conventional use.
Another point raised is the possibility of incompatibility with PCB designs that were not designed to handle such high peaks. In some cases, inappropriate use of this firmware may cause:
- security shutdown
- trail breaking
- accelerated chip degradation
- irreversible damage to the board
Still, for competitive overclockers, a BIOS of this type opens up the chance to break records on platforms like 3DMark, especially with liquid nitrogen cooling.
The counterpoint: Matrix BIOS is still the most sought after
Parallel to the leak, comments are circulating about a specific BIOS for the model ASUS RTX 5090 Matrixmore robust and with advanced energy controls. It would be more stable than the leaked XOC BIOS, despite still not being publicly released.
For many enthusiasts, this official BIOS would be the “preferred” one in competitive scenarios due to better dynamic voltage management and integration with the Matrix’s characteristic cooling system.

Expectations for competitive use
Even without confirmation on the origin of the file, the 2000W firmware reignited debates about the limits of the Blackwell architecture in extreme environments. If validated and used by professional overclockers, it could serve as a showcase to demonstrate unprecedented GPU peaks.
Furthermore, the existence of this type of BIOS indicates that manufacturers and OC teams continue to explore the energy ceiling of RTX 5090 cards, which could anticipate results for global competitions throughout 2026.
