The new Nova Lake generation of Intel processors should have as one of its main highlights the introduction of bLLC (Big Last Level Cache), a technology that can rival 3D V-Cache in AMD Ryzen X3D processors. Now we have rumors that only the “K” models unlocked for overclocking in the line will be able to have bLLC.
The information comes from Jaykihn, a famous leaker in the hardware segment, especially regarding Intel. In a very concise post, the insider states “bLLC will only be present in unlocked SKUs”.
The way the post was written, we can understand that the extra cache will only be present on CPUs at the top of the Nova Lake line, but we have no guarantee that all unlocked models will have bLLC.
It was already expected that Intel would charge more for these variants, just as AMD does with its Ryzen X3D. However, conditioning the extra cache to Nova Lake K may indicate that we will not have variants focusing on more affordable prices with the technology, while it is still possible to find some CPUs with 3D V-Cache targeting less exclusive segments.
There are indications that Intel intends to place up to 144MB of bLLC in the most advanced Nova Lake processor model. This means all this capacity only in L3 of the CPU. Jaykihn reiterates this information in the responses to his most recent post.
In other words, it is more memory than is present in AMD’s current top of the line. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D offers 144MB in total, bringing 96MB on L3 via 3D V-Cache.

This should have a considerable impact on the price of the processor, but it makes sense for Intel to try to respond to its biggest competition in the domestic segment with something that really attracts attention. And not only that, but it’s worth remembering that we already have rumors that AMD is preparing a new Ryzen X3D that could surpass the 9950X3D in capacity, bringing double 3D V-Cache.
