The Cube is Chieftec’s new mATX case, shaped like a compact cube for the desktop

This week, Chieftec presented The Cube, its new cubic-shaped mATX case. It’s perhaps no coincidence that the company chose a date close to the Steam Machine reveal to showcase its own cubic PC solution, but they claim that the inspiration actually came from Hi-Fi speakers.

It is because of the design inspiration that we see a mesh network on the front panel in a round shape, which gives a speaker-like appearance to The Cube. Behind this network, we have a large 200mm fan, which is already installed in the case. Furthermore, Chieftec will only make the product available in black, to maintain the proposal and a discreet look.

The Cube measures 26.5 x 33.5 x 38.5mm, which results in a somewhat compact case that isn’t exactly a cube, actually. It’s 34.1L, enough to hold a GPU up to 335mm, which should be large enough for many three-fan models.

The CPU cooler can measure up to 160mm in height, while supported power supplies are ATX type, up to 160mm in length.

Chieftec The Cube is now on sale in Europe

Another interesting highlight for the model’s design is an elegant cabinet opening solution, which includes a hinge in the opening of the front panel connected to the top. It is a way to facilitate access to internal components and prevent the structure from scattering during maintenance.

Chieftec already sells The Cube in Europe, where the case can be found for €77.89 (R$484.82). We still don’t have an announcement for international availability, but with the popularity of the Steam Machine it’s a safe bet that we’ll see more cubic cabinets being announced in the coming months.
