The Tim Cook era may be coming to an end. Rumors are strong that the executive will no longer be Apple’s CEO in 2026. Cook took over the role at the end of 2011 to replace Steve Jobs, who passed away that same year.
The beginning of the Cook administration was marked by some distrust, after all, the executive took on the challenging mission of replacing the name that made Apple triumph in the technology industry. In the end, Tim Cook managed to keep the company on the path to success.
But the Financial Times reports having heard from several people close to Apple who say that preparations for the executive’s replacement have intensified. It would not be a matter of performance, however: the same sources suggested that this is a planned transition process.
It is possible, then, that Tim Cook is simply preparing for his retirement. The executive turned 65 at the beginning of November.

Who will replace Tim Cook at Apple?
Still according to the Financial TimesJohn Ternus, who currently holds the position of senior vice president of hardware engineering, is the most likely executive to take over as CEO of Apple. However, this is a decision that has not yet been made. What is taken for granted is that the successor will not be someone who comes from outside Apple.
Regardless of the name chosen, the new CEO will find Apple in a stable financial situation, but even so, he will have to deal with important challenges.
One of them is to try to respond to the wishes of the current United States government, which wants Apple and other American companies to depend less on China to manufacture their products.
Another challenge is to “catch up” with Apple in the field of artificial intelligence. To date, most of Apple Intelligence’s capabilities have not made it past the promise stage.
