Apple launched, this Tuesday (11/11), a knitted bag for iPhone. The product is a partnership with Miyake Design Studio, owned by Japanese designer Issey Miyake. According to the company, the accessory is inspired by the concept of “a piece of fabric”, offering an “extra pocket” for the user.
Officially, it’s called iPhone Pocket and is used to carry the iPhone and small objects. It will be sold in two versions: one with a short handle, which costs US$149.95 (around R$790), and another with a long handle, for US$229.95 (R$1,300).
The short version will be available in eight colors — yellow, orange, purple, pink, sea green, blue, brown and black — while the long strap version will have three options: blue, brown and black.

The design uses 3D knitting, a technique used by Issey Miyake’s studio. According to the Japanese brand’s design director, Yoshiyuki Miyamae, the product “reflects the connection between the iPhone and its user”.
The iPhone Pocket is manufactured in Japan and will be available from this Friday (11/14) in selected Apple stores in France, China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States. For now, there is no forecast for launch in Brazil.
iPod Socks back?

The concept recalled something from the past: the launch of iPod Socks, presented in November 2004. At the time, Steve Jobs himself joked about calling the product “revolutionary”. At the time, they were sold in six colors for US$29.
At the same event, Jobs mocked the case market, saying that accessory manufacturers made more money than Apple itself selling iPods — which is why they were launching fabric covers. Apple stopped selling the product in 2012.
