NVIDIA continues to surprise the technology community with its DGX Sparka mini supercomputer originally designed for computer tasks artificial intelligencebut which has now proven to also be capable of running complex games and emulators.

The feat was shown in recent videos and posts from enthusiasts who managed to perform Cyberpunk 2077in addition to titles of PlayStation 3 e Xboxusing only emulation and some modifications to the system.

Spark uses a ARM architecture instead of the traditional x86 present in most PCs, which makes it a different and more energy efficient platform. Despite this, it was able to run high-performance games thanks to a combination of advanced hardware and translation software.

The model in question, the MSI Expert Edgeis one of the first machines to use the DGX Spark commercially.

He brings a 20-core ARM SoC with ten Cortex-X925 and ten A725 cores, accompanied by 128 GB of unified RAM with a 256-bit bus, achieving bandwidth of 253 GB/s.

The system is powered by the architecture Grace Blackwellfrom NVIDIA, the same technological base used in its latest GPUs for AI.

The equipment runs the DGX OSa custom version of Ubuntu optimized for the NVIDIA ecosystem, and comes with native support for CUDA X, ComfyUI, Open WebUI and generative AI hardware.

The integration makes Spark a powerful environment for machine learning testing and local model development.

Cyberpunk 2077 on ARM? Yes, it is possible

The feat was reported in a post on Reddit and confirmed by videos on YouTube. Using the software Box64which translates x86 instructions to ARM, a user managed install and run Steam normally on the system, running Cyberpunk 2077 at around 50 fps at 1080pwith performance considered stable.

According to the report, the process involved compile Box64 with BOX32 and BOX32_BINFMT support, restart the systemd service and run the Steam client using the command box64 steam.

The player stated: “That’s basically it. I’m getting an average of 50 fps at 1080p, the stability is really good. I’ve had a few drops, but overall it’s completely playable.”

The experience is particularly impressive considering that the Spark does not use a dedicated GPU for gamingbut rather an architecture focused on scientific computing and AI tasks.

In addition to Cyberpunk 2077, the creator also tested the RPCS3PlayStation 3 emulator, and the XMUaimed at the original Xbox. Both ran surprisingly stable: the RPCS3 maintained 60 fps em 1080p com Skate 3while the XMU achieved a constant 30 fps in Forza Motorsport.

Compatibility was considered excellent, even without specific optimizations for NVIDIA’s ARM chip.

The YouTuber responsible for the test also explained that he intends to try emulate PC games and run native Linux titles, which can expand the system’s potential for recreational use.

Even though Spark is designed for professional applications, its performance in games shows how much ARM architectures are evolving.

Power of AI Mini Stations

Despite its compact form factor (comparable to a mini PC), the DGX Spark was designed to AI and Data Science tasksand can be interconnected to other modules via connection ConnectX-7 de 200 Gbps.

The technology allows you to join two or more units without the need for switches, transforming several Sparks into a distributed processing network.

Although NVIDIA does not position the DGX Spark as a consumer product, the developer and modder community is already beginning to explore new uses for the platform, going far beyond AI laboratories.

It’s not about gaming on a supercomputer, it’s about proving that the future of hardware lies in small, efficient architectures

New paradigm between AI and entertainment

The experiment with the DGX Spark shows how much the boundaries between AI computing and gaming are becoming blurred.

At a time when language models and advanced graphics share space on the same GPUs, the fact that a pocket supercomputer runs Cyberpunk 2077 fluently is symbolic and a glimpse of what the promising future of hardware can offer.
