GTBOX has joined the list of companies that offer unexpected solutions to attract attention in the increasingly competitive mini PC market. The new T1 looks like a small speaker, but it is actually a complete compact computer, driven by an AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS APU.
What’s really interesting about the product is that it doesn’t adopt the speaker format just for aesthetics. The GTBOX T1, in fact, has built-in speakers, something quite rare for mini PCs. The Company claims that the integrated sound is a great solution for making calls and conferences.
For listening to music, the mini PC may not be so suitable. There are two small speakers of just 5W equipping the T1, and it also comes with a built-in microphone, obviously.
Active cooling of the Ryzen 7 8745HS could hinder the proposal
The Ryzen 7 8745HS is a Zen 4 processor with 8 cores and 16 threads, accompanied by an integrated Radeon 780M GPU. It runs at a base clock of 3.8GHz, but the boost goes up to 5.1GHz. With these configurations, AMD estimates a standard TDP of 45W, which is not the highest.
Even so, GTBOX chose to place a fan to ensure cooling of the APU in the mini PC. It’s normal for a device of this type, but VideoCardz raises an important question in the case of the T1: doesn’t the sound from the fan end up being captured by the computer’s microphone?

The new Ryzen mini PC with speakers is now available for pre-order on the official GTBOX website. According to the page, its standard price is US$600 (R$3,230), but at the time of writing this post the product is selling for US$550 (R$2,961).

For this price, the Ryzen 7 8745HS comes with 32GB of DDR5 memory and 1TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD. Apparently, the T1 will not have other configurations available.
