UPDATE: AMD issued a new note on the subject explaining that older GPUs can still receive updates to support new games in some cases. More information at this link.

ORIGINAL: Driver 25.10.2 for AMD GPUs was released this week bringing WHQL optimizations to Battlefield 6 and initial Work Graphs support. This is also the last update with optimizations for games that Radeon RX 5000 and RX 6000 series cards will receive.
The information is official and comes from AMD itself. The update indicated the change in its changelog, and the company confirmed it to Tom’s Hardware with a statement that reads:
“In order to stay focused on optimizing and delivering new and improved technologies for the latest GPUs, AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 25.10.2 places the Radeon RX 5000 and RX 6000 series of graphics cards (RDNA 1 and RDNA 2) into maintenance mode.”

This means that the aforementioned cards will only receive critical security updates and bug fixes from now on, also leaving out new features that can be implemented through driver updates.
ASUS ROG Xbox Ally usa RDNA 2
Since AMD mentions the architectures used in its GPUs going into maintenance mode, the question was raised whether the decision will affect other components based on RDNA 1 and RDNA 2.
Ryzen Z2 processors, like the one featured in the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and many other laptops, use integrated GPUs based on RDNA 2. Does this mean that these devices will no longer receive updates with support for new games?

AMD’s statement, however, specifically talks about the Radeon RX 5000 and RX 6000 series of graphics cards, and their architectures are only mentioned. The text does not imply that the decision applies to any GPU based on these technologies.
Driver update does not remove USB function from Radeon RX 7900
Another important explanation for a driver update that ended up being quite confusing is that the USB-C port present on Radeon RX 7900 cards is not undergoing changes.
The original text of the update said that the connection would no longer be used to pass power or functions in addition to acting as an extra DisplayPort connection in USB-C format. Apparently this was an error, and the page has now been updated to remove the incorrect information.

“There has been no change to USB-C functionality on RX 7900 series GPUs in driver 25.10.2,” AMD said. “There was an incorrect line in the originally posted notes that has been removed, and the notes have been updated.”
