Microsoft has started testing a function in Windows 11 that allows computer audio to be shared between two Bluetooth devices at the same time. The new feature can work with headphones, headsets, speakers and even hearing aids.
Audio sharing can be useful, for example, for two people to watch a movie on their notebook during a plane trip, with each person using their own headphones.
To allow the audio stream to be directed to two different devices simultaneously, Windows 11 makes use of Bluetooth LE Audio technology, which is focused precisely on sound devices and allows broadcast transmissions (to more than one device at the same time).
This means that audio sharing only works with devices compatible with this standard, such as headphones such as the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and Sony WH-1000XM6.
To start the procedure, simply pair two Bluetooth LE Audio compatible sound devices to your computer and, in the quick settings area, activate audio sharing mode.

When will audio sharing reach the final version of Windows 11?
There is no date for this yet, but it is quite likely that the release of the new feature for the final version of Windows 11 will only be released in 2026.
For now, Bluetooth audio sharing is available in the Dev and Beta channels of the Windows Insider testing program for Windows 11, starting with build 26220.7051 of the operating system.
Microsoft explains that, at this time, only the following Copilot+ computers support the feature:
- Surface Laptop with Qualcomm Snapdragon X chip (13.8 and 15 inches)
- Surface Laptop for Business with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Chip (13.8 and 15 inches)
- 13-inch Surface Pro with Qualcomm Snapdragon X chip
- 13-inch Surface Pro for Business with Qualcomm Snapdragon X chip
Other Surface notebooks as well as newer Samsung Galaxy Book models will gain compatibility soon. Microsoft expects more computers to support the feature in future stages. The company just isn’t sure about this because compatibility depends on the manufacturers’ involvement.
