NVIDIA says its market share in China “dropped from 95% to 0%”

NVIDIA effectively has no more products to offer to China. The statement seems drastic, but it comes from the company’s founder and CEO, Jensen Huang. In a recent participation in a technology event, the executive declared that NVIDIA’s market share in China fell from 95% to 0%.

The speech came during the Future of Global Markets 2025, by Citadel Securities. Huang was commenting on the blockages that the company faces in the USA to export its products to China, which recently culminated in the Asian country itself also beginning to establish impediments. The situation would have become so dramatic that NVIDIA would have basically been wiped out in China.

“Right now, we’re 100% outside of China, so in China it’s 0%. We’ve gone from a 95% market share to 0%, so I can’t imagine any politician believing this is a good idea,” Huang said. “In all our forecasts, we project zero for China. If anything happens in China, it will be a bonus.”

Between the H20 and the RTX 6000D, there was no shortage of attempts by NVIDIA to maintain a presence in China – especially to ensure the continuity of the country’s companies in the company’s hardware and software ecosystem for AI.

However, in addition to effective blockades in H20, while the US restricts the performance of what NVIDIA can export, companies in China continue to advance their own solutions, making imports increasingly less attractive.

NVIDIA GPUs on sale:

For a long time, rumors pointed to a new Blackwell-based card that could boost NVIDIA sales in China again, in this case a B30A, or B40. However, with increasingly intense geopolitical tensions between countries, the company does not appear to have any hope of receiving authorization to export its most powerful new products.
