A new BIOS update from ASUS revealed early support for a CPU da AMD not yet officially announced, reinforcing preparations for the next generation of processors Ryzen AM5. The firmware, identified as AGESA 1.2.7.0appears on 800 series boards and confirms that the manufacturer is ready to receive new chips based on the architecture Zen 5expected to hit the market soon.
The new ASUS firmware — still in phase BETA — is part of preparing for the next generation of Ryzen 9000Gdirect successors of Ryzen 8000G. According to the release notes, the package includes the “New APUs Support” item, in addition to performance and general compatibility improvements.

The discovery was initially shared by safediskASUS’s internal overclocker, which often releases early BIOS versions in the ROG community. Although neither the AMD not the MSIwhich had been the first to release the firmware, publicly confirmed support for the new APUs, references to codenames Krackan Point e Strix Point appear within the BIOS data.

AMD rumors and plans for 2025
The timing also coincides with rumors that AMD would be preparing two new Ryzen 9000X3D, including a model with dual 3D V-Cache, aimed at enthusiasts and gamers looking for maximum performance. This move reinforces the brand’s strategy of consolidating the Ryzen 9000 line as one of the most versatile today, covering everything from high-performance CPUs to hybrid APUs with integrated graphics power.
Behind the scenes, motherboard manufacturers are already stepping forward to ensure immediate compatibility when AMD makes the new chips official. The movement suggests a launch still in 2025possibly on the same schedule as Ryzen 9000Freleased in May.
AM5 platform and long-term support
The update also indicates that AMD is expected to continue expanding its presence on the platform AM5reinforcing the commitment to long-term support. Unlike previous generations, the new wave of processors should prioritize efficiency and graphics integration, consolidating itself as a balanced option between performance and cost-benefit for desktops without a dedicated graphics card.
