This week, Thermaltake launched a new line of power supplies aimed at demanding hardware with high energy demands. The Toughpower PT Platinum series goes up to 1,200W in capacity, featuring models compatible with ATX 3.1 and with PCIe 5.0 support, including a 12V-2×6 connector with a colored tip.
As indicated by the name, the three new source options come with 80 Plus Platinum energy efficiency certification. This means up to 92% efficiency in each model. The PSUs are made with 105ºC Japanese capacitors and incorporate an LLC + DC-to-DC circuit, which guarantees precise voltage regulation, according to Thermaltake.
They are modular sources with flat cables that should help with build management. Each uses a single 135mm fan with hydraulic bearing. As usual for premium sources, the fan turns off when the workload is light, to reduce noise levels.
Each PSU comes with a cable with a 16-pin connector, also known as 12V-2×6. Adopting a solution that has become popular in recent times, the end of the cable comes in a greenish color that helps the user to see if it has been correctly connected.

Thermaltake offers three capacity options in new line
As mentioned, we have three new power supplies in the Toughpower PT Platinum series. Below are their suggested prices (MSRP):
- PT Platinum 850W: US$ 130 (R$ 699,71)
- PT Platinum 1.000W: US$ 160 (R$ 861,18)
- PT Platinum 1.200W: US$ 180 (R$ 968,83)
Thermaltake warns that values ​​may vary by region, and offers some advantages for the longevity of the products.
To begin with, the new sources come with the industrial standard protections that have become typical in components in this price range. We have OCP, OVP, UVP, OPP, OTP, and SCP, and the company promises a 10-year warranty for each model in the PT Platinum line.
