Summary
- Samsung announced the arrival of the Perplexity AI app on smart TVs from 2023 to 2025.
- The application offers direct, real-time answers based on internet sources.
- Rumors suggest that Samsung may adopt Perplexity in place of Google Assistant on cell phones, starting with the Galaxy S26 line.
Samsung announced this Tuesday (21/10) that the Perplexity application, the popular search tool with artificial intelligence, is coming to its smart TVs. The new feature is now available for the brand’s most recent models and arrives as the first app of its kind for televisions.
According to the company, in addition to all TVs launched in 2025, the app will also reach devices from 2023 and 2024 through a software update scheduled for the end of the year. The South Korean giant has invested in AI and may become increasingly closer to the startup.
What does the app look like on TV?

The proposal is to bring the experience of Perplexity’s “answer engine” to the big screen. Instead of just presenting links, like Google, AI answers questions with information compiled from internet sources, directly and in real time.
The user can search by voice command or using the virtual keyboard. The results are displayed in “cards” adapted to the format, and not just in blocks of text.
The app works independently, but is also part of Samsung’s Vision AI Companion initiative, a platform that seeks to unify the AI functions of televisions into a more intuitive experience. To use, simply accept the terms and allow access to the microphone for voice commands.
To encourage use, Perplexity is offering a free year of subscription to its Pro plan, which can be redeemed using a QR code within the app.
Partnership could reach the Galaxy line

The arrival of Perplexity on Samsung TVs follows another possible negotiation revealed in June, involving even deeper joint work to bring AI to Galaxy cell phones.
The conversations predicted the replacement of Google Assistant with Perplexity’s technology as standard on smartphones, with an integration that could begin on the Galaxy S26 line. The deal could also involve a heavy investment by Samsung in the startup.
Despite the progress of the partnership with the South Korean company, Perplexity has a recent history of controversies. Cloudflare has already accused the startup of ignoring protocols and improperly extracting data from websites.
Furthermore, like other big artificial intelligence techs, the company faces copyright infringement lawsuits filed by two of Japan’s largest media groups (Nikkei and Asahi Shimbun) and, more recently, by the famous American dictionary Merriam-Webster.
