Intel released this week a new feature that can help offer performance gains in games and other specific apps on dedicated GPUS notebooks. Shared GPU MEMORY OVERRIDE allows the user to manually allocate how much of notebook memory that can act as Vram for device charts.
The feature is part of the 32.0.101.6987 driver update, which also brought optimizations Game On to Battlefield 6 and Mafia: The Old Country. After Update, users can use Intel Graphics Software to access the Memory Override Shared GPU.
Tom’s hardware explains that current Integrated GPUS Intel processors for notebooks use system memory rather than dedicated GDDR components. Usually, this use is limited to up to 50% of the total available memory.

Through override, however, it will be possible to adjust the values for much higher proportions, depending on the total capacity of the notebook. By default, the value is 57% of memory, and the example shown by Intel goes to 87%. Theoretically, depending on the total amount of RAM in the device, this maximum can be even higher.
New feature is now available in CPUS Intel Core Ultra Series 2
Update release notes stipulate that the Memory Override Shared GPU can be used on Windows 10 and 11 systems with Intel Core Ultra Series 1 and 2 processors.

However, on the Memory Override support page, Intel stipulates that only Core Ultra Series 2 processors are compatible. The company also adds that the notebook needs at least 10GB of RAM to use the feature.

Obviously, increasing the memory allocated to the use of the integrated GPU can bring bottlenecks to the CPU in applications that demand more from the component. It is not recommended to leave as a “pattern” a high proportion of memory for the graphs, and it is best to do so only before running more demanding IGPU applications, such as games, for example.
