Asus launched this week a new version of its High-End Rog Crosshair X870e Hero motherboard, which now takes BTF in the name. This Socket AM5 plate model was originally released along with the introduction of the Ryzen 9000 processor series, but now it gets a total focus on cable concealment.
The first change that draws attention to the Rog Crosshair X870e Hero BTF is its hidden connectors, or backwards. The power connections, sata doors, and varied headers are all facing the back of the plate PCB, helping to hide cables in format compatible offices.
In addition, we have the BTF energy system, which appears in the name of the new board. This is a dedicated connection that offers up to 600W of energy, similar to the 12V-2 × 6 connection, to dispense with the need for a cable going directly from the source to the GPU. Obviously, the video card needs to be a compatible model with BTF connector. ASUS has tuf gaming, Rog Strix and Rog Astral models that can take advantage of the feature.

We have a 5.0 x16 PCIE connection for video cards, and the interface also appears in three of the five M.2 NVME connections for SSD drives. They are two ethernet (2.5GB and 5GB) ports and the model comes with support to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, thanks to a mediatek MT7927 modem, which promises high performance.

ASUS unfortunately did not report the price of Rog Crosshair X870e Hero BTF variant, but TechPowerup estimates a value between 5% to 10% higher than the original model.
