Lip-BU Tan, the current CEO of Intel, would have a meeting scheduled for today, August 11, with Donald Trump, current president of the United States. According to unofficial information, the executive will meet the head of state to try to reverse the current scenario, in which the politician has been pressured for his departure from office in the company.
The report comes from the Wall Street Journal, citing its own sources. Last week, quoting a letter signed by Republican Senator Tom Cotton, Donald Trump demanded that Tan resigned from his position as CEO of Intel immediately, saying “there was no other solution to this problem.”
Cotton’s letter mentions a case of when Tan was CEO of Cadence Design Systems. The company was accused of illegally selling its products to a university in China so that technologies could be transferred to the country without licensing US authorities. Cadence Design stated to blame for the charges and paid a $ 140 million fine.
In addition, the Intel CEO would “control dozens of Chinese companies, with actions in hundreds of advanced chip manufacturing firms in the country,” says Cotton’s letter.
Tan, of course, defends himself from the accusations, and claims that “he has always operated within the highest legal and ethical standards.”
