The decision to review laptops made by brands such as Anbernic, Powkiddy and Trimui may end up resulting in the arrest of an Italian Youtube. Francesco Salicini, also known as Once Were Nerd, says the country’s authorities are considering their contents violate copyright laws and started an investigation against him.
In a video published on his channel, Salicini explained that the Italian authorities claim that he promoted piracy by accepting “sponsorships” from manufacturers that allow the emulation of old games. What makes Salicini’s situation even more complicated is the fact that the investigative authorities do not need to share details of the accusation with it. Thus, the content creator should only know of his truth if a judge accepts the case and decides to take him to a court.
If it is convicted of violating article 171 of the Italy Protection Rights Law, Youtuber can be forced to pay a fine of up to 15 thousand euros. In addition, it can spend up to three years stuck, for theoretically helped spread information on how to get pirated games.
To make the situation more complicated, it is prohibited from continuing to produce portable content and feeding your social networks while the target of the investigation. Salicini claims to believe that he does not have many chances in the case and has already hired a lawyer and has taken several debts to prepare for a future trial.
