AMD will soon sell GPUS M308 again to AI in China

The US government does not want to be accused of favoritism with Nvidia and is advancing in the process of giving licenses to AMD also selling its accelerators to China. The company has confirmed that its M308 products will receive permission for export soon, and will be sent to the Asian country as soon as the papers leave.

“We have recently been informed by the Department of Commerce that applications for licenses to export M308 to China will move on for review,” an AMD representative said to Tom’s hardware.

The company does not speak directly that it has already been authorized, but implies that the referral of its request is basically a guarantee that licenses will come. So much so that its representative adds praise to the current US administration:

“We applaud the Trump administration’s progress to advance commercial negotiations and their commitment to USA leadership.” AMD has assured that it intends to start the MI308 shipments as soon as the authorities’ authorization.

Both AMD and Nvidia did not hide that they would have a considerable impact on their incomes by suspending their accelerators’ sales to China. Nvidia, being Titan, which is in the area, spoke of losing values of around $ 5.5 billion without being able to export her H20.

AMD, in turn, estimated much smaller losses of $ 800 million for the restriction with the M308. However, certainly an impact on the company’s coffers, taking into account the size of each company.
