Since last year, China has been preparing for Trump’s return. During the Republican’s first government, giants like Huawei, ZTE and SMIC faced severe commercial restrictions that limited their access to essential American technologies.

And in February, the US postal service no longer receives orders from China and Hong Kong, which can further aggravate the dispute and reinforces the Chinese perception of strengthening internal production.

Trump also spoke of imposing 25% to 100% rates on Taiwan chips in expecting companies to migrate factories to the US. At the same time, however, he spoke of reviewing the Act chips agreements, created during the Biden government to attract semiconductor production to the US.
