SK Hynix works in LPDDR5M memories, up to 8% more efficient than LPDDR5x [RUMOR]

SK Hynix works in a new version of the well -known LPDDR5 memories with greater energy efficiency focus, allegedly called LPDDR5M. That’s what reports Money Today, so it’s good to keep a skeptic dose until we have an official confirmation of the company.

According to information from the site, the new SK Hynix LPDDR5M memories can operate at 0.98V, lower than that required by LPDDR5X components, which need 1.05V to function. The reduction does not seem so impactful, but it would be enough for the new version of modules to deliver up to 8% more efficiency at high speeds.

As is well known, LPDDR5 modules are usually the preference on mobile devices. This is why SK Hynix would be looking for the LPDDR5M format in order to deliver memories with greater energy efficiency and help the implementation of local AI processing in apparatus in this format. The company would be interested in getting ahead with a new memory solution while not yet commonly went with offline processing on mobile phones.

SK Hynix develops LPDDR5 at the “two tips” of performance

Rumors of the LPDDR5M modules appear while SK Hynix distributes the LPDDR5T version to mobile phones as well, which made its debut in 2023. While LPDDR5M aims at efficiency, the LPDDR5T Performance, delivering 9.6gbps for the first time in the segment.
