Nvidia confirms that 0.5% of her RTX 5090 and RTX 5070 Ti came out with rops missing

Nvidia has spoken out about reports that emerged this week of RTX 5090 units from Zotac with a number of ROPs missing. The owner of RTX 50 admits not only that this is a production defect, but adds that some RTX 5070 IT have also been affected.

According to the company, a very small portion of the RTX 5090 and 5090d and RTX 5070 IT came out with production defect with the ROPs missing: only 0.5%. Since the 5070 IT is a recent release with very scarce units, reports of users have not even appeared about the problem before Nvidia’s statement.

“We have identified a rare problem affecting less than 0.5% of GPUS GeForce RTX 5090/5090D and 5070 TI that have fewer rops than specified,” a Nvidia representative told WCCFTECH. “The overall impact on graphs performance is 4%, with no impact on AI loads or computing.”

Since the company acknowledges that it was a production failure, this time it was not all of Zotac, which only failed to detect the problem when it received the GPUS from Nvidia. In addition, signs from other partners may also have been affected, although it is a very small number, apparently.

Still in his statement to the site, the representative of Nvidia stressed that the production problem has been corrected and that affected signs will be exchanged.

“Affected consumers can contact the manufacturer of their plates for a replacement. The anomaly in production was corrected, ”said the company.
