AMD RX 9070 XT benchmarks show performance similar to RTX 4070 Super

New leaks suggest that the RX 9070 XT, next AMD GPU, performs performance near NVIDIA RTX 4070 Super in synthetic tests. The numbers, obtained through geekbench, indicate a improvement of up to 28% compared to RX 7800 XT, but still far from the level of RX 7900 XTX.

Performance revealed in the tests

Benchmarks were released by the Benchleaks profile in X (former Twitter) and appear to originate from tests by different users.

Two distinct hardware settings were used: the RX 9070 XT was tested with an Ryzen 7 9800x3D and an Asus Rog Crosshair X870e Hero motherboard, while the RX 9070 used an Ryzen 7 9700X and an MSI B650 Gaming Plus Wi-Fi.

In geekbench tests, the RX 9070 XT marked 177,395 points in Vulkan and 179,178 at OpenNLwhile its standard version, the RX 9070, obtained 158,520 and 140,842 pointsrespectively.

This positions it 22% below NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti and at the same level as RTX 4070 Superwithout exceeding RX 7900 XTX or even RX 7900 XT.

Regarding the GPUs already available on the market, the numbers show that the RX 9070 XT has a gain of 28% on RX 7800 xtbut it is 16% behind RX 7900 XT and 32% below RX 7900 XTX. Compared to Nvidia plates, the RTX 4070 Super is the nearest rival, while the RTX 5070 Ti, not yet officially launched, seems to have an advantage of about 28% em OpenCL e 29% em Vulkan About Rx 9070 xt.

In addition to the tests at Geekbench, hollow benchmarks show that the RX 9070 XT performed impressive at FUMERK in 4Kapproaching Rx 7900 xtx.

Therefore, although synthetic benchmarks, such as geekbench, had already positioned RX 9070 XT at the same level as RTX 4070 SuperFumMark numbers suggest that the GPU can do better than expected in applications that require high thermal and energy performance.

Expectations and official presentation

The results may seem disappointing for those who expected a significant leap in the performance of the RX 9000 line.

In January, a rumor suggested that the performance of the RX 9070 XT could be close to the RTX 4080 Superbut these tests do not confirm this hypothesis. Still, as synthetic benchmarks do not always reflect the real performance, there are chances that the GPU will bring surprises in the games.

AMD will officially present the RDNA 4 line on the day February 28and only then will it be possible to evaluate more accurately if these numbers reflect the final performance of the RX 9070 XT and its default version.
