The Intel Core Ultra 9 275hx, presented at CES 2025, brought a configuration of 24 nuclei and 24 threads, with 8 Lion Cove (Lion Cove) and 16 efficiency cores (Skymont).
Unlike other line models, the processor No Hyper-Threading Supportsomething that initially generated low expectations for its multicore performance. However, a recent test at CineBench R23 revealed that 275HX exceeded Core I9-14900hx in Multicore performance by an impressive margin of 18%.
This difference drew attention, especially considering that the previous model, Core i9-14900hx, is widely used in powerful laptops such as Strix Scar 16.
The Core Ultra 9 275hx surpassed the Core i9-14900hx in multicore performance by 18%, even without Hyper-Threading support, something that intrigues experts
Although Core Ultra 9 has lost in single-core performance by a narrow margin, the improvement in multicore performance raises hypotheses about a possible advance in the scalability of multiple Intel nuclei.
However, the absence of more detailed information about the tested system requires caution in the interpretation of the results.

Arrow Lake and expectations for the Core Ultra line
Arrow Lake architecture has been closely monitored, and rumors indicate that it can be a “refresh” of the current line.
Nevertheless, the impressive Multicore performance of the Core Ultra 9 275HX contrasts with previous tests, such as in Passmark, where the Core Ultra 7 255h line presented modest gains in Multicore.
The inconsistency in results reinforces the need for more testing to confirm the efficiency of new processors.

The Core Ultra line has been the focus of several innovations. Gigabyte recently featured a compact mini PC with Core Ultra 5 225h and Thunderbolt 4, while Intel has unveiled more affordable models such as Core Ultra 3 205.
The impressive performance of Core Ultra 9 275hx in multitasking suggests that Intel is investing in significant improvements in Multicore scalability, a welcome advance for the high performance laptop market.
However, contradictory results in different benchmarks raise questions about the consistency of these improvements, so coming months will be vital to validating whether the 275HX really consolidates Intel’s leadership in the segment or faces limitations against competition.
